Frequently asked questions
What happens to transparency in the PNG?
JPEG does not support an alpha channel. Any transparent or semi-transparent pixels are composited onto the background colour you choose (white by default), so your image always looks clean.
Will the dimensions change?
No. The output JPEG has exactly the same pixel width and height as the input PNG.
What quality setting should I use?
85 is a great default — near-lossless quality with a much smaller file size than PNG. Drop to 70–75 for web thumbnails, or push to 95 for photos you plan to print.
Is my file stored on the server?
No. Conversion runs in memory and the result is sent directly to your browser. If you use the optional share link, the file is stored temporarily and deleted automatically when the link expires.
